Efficacy of herbal gel on wound healing in chronic periodontitis

After periodontal surgery,the involved tissues are considered as surgically wounded sites which are usually protected using periodontal packs to aid in uneventful healing.Periodontal packs can act as scaffolds for plaque accumulation leading to wound contamination by microbes,hence an alternative such as herbal product which has antimicrobial properties can be utilised. One such product is Hiora GA which is a Himalaya product that contains plant based ingredients that have antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Hence this study was taken up to compare the wound healing capacity based on clinical and microbiological assessment of conventionally used periodontal pack and commercially available Hiora GA.It was seen that HIORA-GA gel was effective for post periodontal surgery and can be used as an alternative to periodontal dressing as it had better patient compliance with no adverse side effects.
