Douglas Adams (1952-2001) was an English author, screenwriter, and humorist, who is best known for the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series of books, all of which have sold more than 15 million copies worldwide. His other books include Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul.
